I love networking and am passionate about women helping other women. There are so many wonderful women in Austin with small businesses! Why not share resources and promote one another?
Here is a list of the fabulous women I know and the businesses I love to support. I am always looking for service providers for myself, so if you want to share resources with me … just send me an email.
Miranda Jane Counseling
Miranda gave me some very valuable tools to help deal with my anxiety around stressful situations. She gently guided me, in the most compassionate and wonderful way, as I discovered how my body manifests stress, how transient these sensations are and how I can work with these sensations to regulate my nervous system and make myself feel safe again.
ACUPUNCTURE & SOUND MEDICINE
G’beda Tonya Lyles
G’beda Acupuncture & Sound Medicine
Watching G’beda work is pretty awe-inspiring. We have shared space together at various volunteer opportunities, and her effect on her clients is magical. She combines acupuncture, sound bowl therapy, herbs and a type of energy work that is palpable to anyone who witnesses it.
NEUROKINETIC THERAPY & KI HARA
This is the perfect therapy for figuring out dysfunctional movement patterns, due to its incredible specificity. Shannon analyzes your gait and has you do a series of resisted movements until she finds the muscles that are “offline” and the ones that are compensating for them. That glute medius that’s been asleep for a while? She’ll wake it up .
Tune My Biofield
We all have a biomagnetic field that is beyond our skin but a part of us. We often hold trauma and detrimental energy in this field, but a tuning can help us to feel more in balance with our naturally preferred resonance. Working with Shannon made me feel more harmonious within myself and supported me in letting go of some old “noise” that was no longer serving me.
The Voice Clinic
Icy doesn’t only teach you how to sing, she helps you “find your voice.” She takes a functional, whole body approach to voice lessons, addressing structural elements, emotional traumas, hormonal changes and many other factors that can be affecting your vocal folds. Her knowledge of herbs and natural remedies allows her to provide support in between lessons. She has a great e-book available on her website.
INTUITIVE TAROT READING
Miss Melinda’s Metaphysical Services
If you find yourself in a challenging situation, Miss Melinda can help you find clarity. First her demeanor is incredibly soothing. Second she can make sense of all of the clues the universe is throwing at you. Third she’s a professional witch. What’s not to love?
PRACTICAL ALCHEMY, ASTROLOGY, HUMAN DESIGN
Alana uses Human Design, astrology and her personal intuitive gifts to help you design a plan for leading your best life. After my first session, I already had specific tools to help me make the shifts I had been wanting to make.
Lauren Kay Wyatt
I heard Lauren speak at a Women’s Chamber of Commerce luncheon, unsure of how her message was going to relate to me, but I wrote down a few key points from her talk anyway. Over the next couple of weeks, I couldn’t get those quotes out of my head and her words set off some really good introspective thinking, not just about romantic relationships but about how I communicate and define boundaries with the world in general. Lauren is a Love Psychic, Spiritual Healer, Guide, Coach, and Illusion Dismantler. She has worked privately with hundreds of people where she has reconnected them with their spiritual power and facilitated soul-level healing.
HANDMADE BAKED SWEETS & TREATS
Satisfy your sweet craving with cupcakes and cookies baked from scratch using good ingredients. She does a weekly dessert box with a cake slice or cupcake, bar and 2 cookies. For those of us who are gluten-free, there are macarons and macaroons, plus she can bake almost any cake for you gluten-free or vegan.
WILDCRAFTED HERBAL REMEDIES
La Abeja Herbs
Sophia is a medicine woman, herbalist and folk healer. Her apothecary offers natural tonics, oils and balms, as well as New and Full Moon ceremonies, flower essence sessions, herbal consultations and medicinal plant walks around Austin. The El Milagro salve is … well … un milagro. A few drops of the Kava oil massaged into the back of the neck at night makes for a beautiful night’s sleep, too.
HANDCRAFTED SOAPS, BODY BUTTERS AND ROOM SPRAY
I am convinced that every woman on earth needs to have the Coastal room spray in her life. My clients will recognize the products from the ROOTS ladies room. Plant-based and made with the highest quality oils and botanical ingredients, they are perfect for sensitive skin, like mine.
Whenever I am not massaging, I am always wearing long, flowing earrings by Moonlit Ritual. In my fantasy, I look like a mystical curandera, although I probably just look like a woman who dressed up a boring outfit with some really awesome earrings. Shay makes a variety of styles, but the Selene collection is my favorite. They look like long feathers but they are actually made from cut silk and leather. Definitely “conversation piece” jewelry so be prepared.
TEXTILES, WEARABLE ART
Mercedez Rex Functional Fibers
Mercedez is one of those people who just exudes style – people always want to own everything she wears. Luckily she makes beautiful hand-dyed tops, bandanas and travel blankets (these are spectacular) so you CAN get a little piece of that style. That throw you’ve been admiring on my couch? That’s her.
Ashley The Editor
Being able to convey your ideas in writing in a concise, professional and yet eloquent way is still an EXTREMELY valuable skill … no matter how many clever emojis are out there, there is no substitute for a perfect sentence! When you have an important piece of writing to deliver, you need an editor. Ashley has years of experience helping students develop their writing skills. She’s edited projects for clients that include academic essays, college admissions essays, graduate school statements of purpose, and dissertations in a wide variety of subjects ranging from the humanities to sociology and the sciences.
One thing I have learned the hard way (multiple times) is that you really DO need a professional photographer. Getting married, giving birth … these are important moments and you don’t want to leave them at the mercy of random friends’ cameras. Brooke’s photos capture the beauty of the moment, but also the quirkiness. Her non-event photography is great, too – the “you are my wild” series breaks my heart a little.
If you are looking for an inspirational image to hang over your work space, chances are Christina’s photographed it for you. Fitting of a woman who has multiple passports, her website is the travel diary you wish you had. The New Zealand photos are my favorites. Portraits also available.
Alysen gives me a valid excuse to get on Instagram – I just love seeing the photos she takes. She uses multiple exposures with either brilliant color or the lack of it. She does lots of pop up shows around Austin, so check out her website to support a very cool local artist!
My bias is that I love to support my fellow sister practitioners, artists and service providers, particularly those that work for themselves like me. However, I have a few male service providers who are excellent and I want to include them here.
It’s hard to describe exactly what Ryan does, because it’s so interdisciplinary and all-encompassing. You might just have to visit the website to really get a sense of what he can offer you. What he has done for me: genetics analysis, homeopathic medicine, bioregulatory medicine, autoimmune support. His consultation takes a couple of hours – he really works together with you to tease out the FULL picture of what is going on with you: lifestyle analysis, diet, genetics, methylation, hormonal imbalances, birth and other traumas…the ultimate self-discovery tour.
ASTROLOGER AND WEBSITE DEVELOPER
Metamorphic Astrology & Metatractor Media
John has shed so much light on the astrological influences in my life, including my human design profile. He explains things in a way that makes sense and has genuinely helped me handle adversity with more equanimity.
My astrologer is also my website developer. Sometimes people are just really excellent at two very different things. My website is exactly how I would have envisioned it had I been design-oriented at all. How John understood what I wanted from my original description is a mystery to me … maybe that’s his magic side.
